Mine is very much the Chimera, because it's so diverse, and yet has so much power(in my opinion)

I also take a liking to the Minotaur

Just out of curiousity what is Your favorite mythological creature, and why? Any type will do, even Were- and Humanoid beings.

Dragon, every time.
From Smaug to Errol, there just ain't no more wonderful beast.:D

CURSE YOU!
This is a horrid choice, there are so so so many!
I am tempted to go with dragon, as they are just so great, but others are demanding attentions - both the common and the uncommon.
So I will go for Jhereg - sort of dragony, but not:

Elves, in pretty much all varieties. And fairies.

The Luggage (assuming it qualifies). Half suitcase, half homicidal maniac, Pratchett's best invention.

Dragons are my one true love closely followed by the majestic Phoenix... my avatar says it all really...

I also however like Griffins, Unicorns, Centaurs and Firedrakes.

xx

Hey! Elves are not beasts!

When I was little, I used to adore Pegasus, and all kind of flying horses. Now I am particularly fond of wywerns (two-legged dragons).

In France--in the Franche-Comtée region, to be exact--this mythical beast is called "la Vouivre", from the Latin vipera, serpent.

Wywerns and vouivres are more serpentine than dragons.

For me it is two particular dragons

1. The chinese style black dragon from RA McAvoy's "Tea With the Black Dragon". Slender, strong, reserved, deceptive, full of interesting character.

2. The dragon from Barbara Hambly's "Dragonsbane" and her later mentions of the dragon's breeding grounds in the far north, with all the females swimming in the sea. A very gorgeous scene I've not done justice to here.
(This dragon is black too, but black is NOT my favourite colour :))
