A bit of a general round-up here.

A new edition of Gardens of the Moon has gone on sale in the UK and Ireland. The new edition is half the price of the old one and retails at £3.99. It has the same cover as the previous edition, but is differentiated from it by a new introduction to the series by Steven Erikson. It is on sale now.

The US cover for Toll the Hounds has been released as well. The UK edition is set for release on 30 June, whilst the Canadian will follow on 5 August. The release date for the US edition has not been set, although it was claimed a while back that it would out at the same time as the UK version. With the US edition of Reaper's Gale only coming out next month though, it may well be that the US edition of TTH will be a little bit behind the UK and Canadian releases.

Return of the Crimson Guard has been set for release on 11 August, though a limited, illustrated, two-volume edition will be released a few months earlier from Subterrenean Press.

There are three mass-market paperback editions. The first has this cover and dates from 1999. The second has this cover and was published last year. The third has exactly the same cover but is half the price and has a new introduction by Steven Erikson and came out yesterday.

I suspect there will be tremendous confusion between the second and third editions. The difference is the new Erikson introduction. If you have it, it's the third edition, if you don't, it's the second.

Indeed I do have it. An interesting introduction, too. Well worth the £3.99. :p

If you want to know - it's Erikson chatting about early days with someone called "Cam" (Ian someone-or-other - partner in creating Malazan, just released a new Malazan book), and then how he started the series, what he wanted to do with it, and what it's turned into. A good, but brief, read.

Ian Cameron Esselmont - he wrote Night of Knives and is about to release Return of the Crimson Guard. And according to Erikson's interviews, invented about 80% of the series' best characters :D

Wow brilliant cover! Can't wait for either book(Toll of hounds,ROTCG). Thanks for the update.

Most of the new style covers are a bit lame, but I do prefer this new Gardens cover to the original. Not buying it again just for a small introduction, though :)

Yeh just think, you could always read it at the bookshop for free...;)

I'm so happy! I figured it would be a while before a new book was written after Bonehunters. He's been writing for years. I don't know why I had never heard of him until this last summer. Love his characterization and unique style and how he's improved on Glen Cook's use of point of view (Another writer I really find entertaining.)

Wait, what? This is not right. It's PSPublishing that are releasing Return!!
