What is the shadow that killed Renly Baratheon? What do you people believe killed Renly?

Stannis in the body of an anti-Other maybe? Perhaps that's the reason he seems weeker day by day

The Shadow is a shadow child of Stannis birthed by Melisandre. Catelyn recognizes it in the tent and later Davos himself notes it when she births a second child under Storms End. It is a shadow of Stannis himself. Later Melsiandre tells Davos that she dare not take anymore more life fire from Stannis to birth another for his is already too low and it would kill him.

its actually Fire Magic according to her. as Rh'llor (sp?) is basically a fire god and she is a priestess of his faith. she claims that her powers come from him.
Its seems legit too as Thoros of Myr - the Red Priest has similar powers...

Will it freak you out to tell you Renly was GAY????

How about who his Lover was???

*Yawn* old news, we aaaall know Renly shoved his sword far up Loras's ass.
And hey people, incase anyone dident notice I've been kinda gone for a while.

I think that Thoros and Melisandre practice very different types of magic...Thoros seems to heal and Melisandre seems to destroy. I feel as though Melisandre is playing a deep game that we may not understand...Why is she at the wall if she's not for R'hllor? Is she with the others? Actually with the Night's Watch? Or is she working in the interest of a previously unknown third party, whether for herself or somebody else? Personally, I have no idea.

My personal feeling is that Melisandre is in actuality a priestess of the counterpart to R'hllor; all her magic seems to be derived more from the shadowy side of the deific dualism.

but there are, according to Melisandre, and Thoros to some respect, only two true dieties. R'hllor and The Other. The Other is the Ice, R'hllor, the Fire. Shadow really is a child of Light/Fire... Ice and Shadow have no correllation.
I believe that Melisandre is indeed a Priestess of R'hllor, or at least a Sorceress in his service, and that although their functions are different and their methods, Thoros and she are working towards similar goals.

I agree and also add that she is just wrong on her assumption of AA/TPTWP and is taking extreme measures to make to make sure she is right i.e The Shadow Children, Burning people, the empty glamour of the false Lightbringer.

I happen to agree with TSW, I really like that theory...though I may just want to believe it...

thats exactly my thought Charming Serpent. Mel must have realised by now that she picked the wrong person to be the Lightbringer, and is probably too proud to admit it and will do everything she can to fit Stannis into the persona. At the very least until she sees who it really is... and much as i'm no big fan of either (indeed i've often listed Dany as one of my most loathed characters), i believe the Lightbringer to be either Jon or Dany.

Sorry, Shack. The only posters I seem to miss are Wert (for his inside info), Raven (for his logic), and Aegon (for his humor). But now that you mention it... I missed you terribly.

Melisandre told Davos that shadows are creatures of light... if there were no light, then shadows would not exist. It seems that this is true, yet the shadow is still composed of darkness or "unlight", if you will. I think Mel is trying to say that the end justifies the means... but this is exactly what pre-Mel-Stannis stood against. The end never justified the means... this is why he cut off Davos' fingers.

Stannis may be comparable to Theoden in their circumstances. Both are kings in despairing in troubling times. Both have leaned upon a powerful magician (or magician's advocate) in Mel and Saruman. Both have physically and psychologically succumbed to the influences of the magician... to the point of behaving in an opposite manner from before the influence began. Eomer and Davos both proved loyal to the king and hostile to his councillors... both were imprisoned. Theoden needed Gandalf to free him from his psychological bondage and physical addiction to Saruman and Grima. Who will be Stannis' Gandalf?

Jon Snow perhaps, but lets not forget that Stannis saw a vision in one of the nightfires where he saw himself burning. He might have witnessed his own demise.

That is the principal reason why I believe Mel will kill Stannis.
