Like Teresa - its one of those films that if dragged to by family/friends I suspect I could watch and enjoy (from what I have seen of the trailers) but its not enough to get me to start the trip -- so for me its a DVD film (though I must say since the wonder of LotR most films for me have slipped inot this category) that and the fact that DVDs are now out only a few months after the first showing of teh film in cinemas
My wife and I saw it last month; excellent. Though marketed perhaps as a "young peoples" film, we both enjoyed it a lot. Some folks dragged very young kids to the theater, and there were a number of quite-terrified-sounding screams.... Not for the wee ones.
Well-done special effects, and the creatures were appropriately scary or charming.
My husband and I went to see it at IMAX, sorry to say, it wasn't worth the tickets. The story was okay, the acting was good, but it didn't 'grip' us. Yes, it is a children's movie, but overall we find kids movies good. This just didn't tickle our fancy.
