I mean the author of the Bane Wreaker duology and the popular Kushiel's Scion series, not the other ones.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Kushiel series, in spite of, or perhaps because of:D, the rampant sexual exploits. I thought it was an intriguing and thoughtful look into the emotions and thoughts involved with physical relationships and the obvious difference between that kind and actual emotional or intellectual ones.

What did anyone else think? If anyone else read them, haha.

Only read the first in the Kushiel but I did actually enjoy it and intend on finishing he series. Just too many other authors entering my reading piles at this point. The sexual scenes didn't bother me any as I find to be an aspect of the reality of the world just like many think the dying of characters is. In this world it is especially part of the story and the character's development. Some very interesting concepts around the world building I enjoyed as well. I look forward to continuing with the series...

after I finish up some Steven Erikson and then onto Joe Abercrombie...not to mention some of the scifi recommendation I received here...so much reading and so little time.

I realy liked the first trilogy, and reread it im preparation for reading the next book, Kushiel's Scion. I was terribly disappointed with it, enough to put me off buying the rest of the second trilogy.
The first books had a balance of lore, good characters, aromance and eroticism. Kushiel's Scion seemed a mishmash, and the ending part was just horrible. Spoiler :
........two different personalities in one body

I have read the first two in the first trilogy, and I enjoyed them both. I also was not bothered by the erotic aspect. I have the third book in my To Be Read pile, but not sure when I will get around to reading it. :)

As I recall, I think Joscelin was my favorite character in the series.

Yes, I read the Kushiel's Series at least once every year. This is one of my favorite stories. I love the world and the characters. The sexual content doesn't bother me because it is based on their religious pathos and it isn't their just to have sex in the story line.

Phedre, Jocelin, and Hyacinthe are my favorite characters, with the main character in the next trilogy (don't want to say who, so I don't spoil it for anyone) coming in next.

I thought the next Trilogy started off pretty good. Once I realized that my top favorites aren't the main characters in the story, I took it for what it was (a continuation) and enjoyed it. I can't wait to get the next book (if I ever get to a book store) so I can see what happens next.

I would recommend to anyone who liked the first trilogy to give the second a chance as well. And to anyone who hasn't read it yet, do so asap!

I read 35 pages of the first book like 2 months ago or maybe more. For some reason my mind wanted to take a break from "serious" series, and get something more lighter for awhile. So basically my only bookmark has sat in the book on my book shelf to torture me and remind me I need to pick it back up and read it while I use business cards as a bookmark for current books. I'm weird...

At least I have the first book, that's something to be said...
