AMSTERDAM -- Last Monday an unique medieval seasons book has brought up a mere 316.051 euros at an auction by De Eland/Van Gendt Book Auctions.

There was an enormous amount of interest from both Dutch and foreign musuems, private investors, etc., for the hand-written prayer book from around 1460, says the Auction House. A man brought some boxes to a special taxation day of the auction house, which included the manuscript. Research from the auction house found that the book hadn't been on the market for over 130 years. It was last seen at an auction at Sotherby's in London in 1876.

The book has been made in Reims and includes eleven hand-painted minitures. It was supposedly made for the King of France Karel VIII. The new owner is a foreign buyer. The seller had inherited it, says the auction house.
