Thought it would be nice to put up some of peoples favourite quotes... Hoping of course that they are suitable... No overtly offensive - as was seen in the GRRM posts... :D

Here is mine of the moment, from Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson...

"His uniform is black as activated charcoal, filtering the very light out of the air. A bullet will bounce off its arachnofiber weave like a wren hitting a patio door, but excess perspiration wafts through it like a breeze through a freshly napalmed forest."

:D

So, what is yours???

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

May I state where does this come from ?

Bene Gesserit Litany against Fear - Dune - Frank Herbert

*resurrects old thread - as opposed to starting a new one just like it*

mostly - b/c I could list tons just from the 8 Dresden novels alone!

From Death Masks (book 5)

Father Forthill - Who's there?
Harry - Donnie and Marie. Salt-N-Pepa asked us to fill in for them.

Harry - We'll call a cab, pick up the Beetle at McAnnally's, and head to Michael's place.
Susan - What if the Denarians are waiting outside for us?
Harry - They'll have to find their own cab.

Susan - Elevator?
Harry - Stairs, if they have them. If someone shoots at us on stairs, we can scream and flail around a lot more.

Those are a few... I have more... LOTS more -

"You don't pay back your parents. You can't. The debt you owe them gets collected by your children, who hand it down in turn. It's a sort of entailment. Or if you don't have children of the body, it's left as a debt to your common humanity. Or to your God, if you possess or are possessed by one."

Cordelia Vorkosigan, "A Civil Campaign." Lois McMaster Bujold

Great quote.

I can't remember the exact quote off the top of my head, but there's a line where a friend explains why he believes Locke gets away with the rediculous schemes that nobody else could pull off...something like "I believe God is saving Locke up for something special... something involving knives, hot irons, and fifty thousand cheering spectators."

"I am the Shield Anvil. And now, now I am done."

From Erikson's Memories of Ice. But only awesome if you've read the whole book.

Actor: "Are you always a wiseass?"
Dresden: "No. Sometimes I'm asleep."

pg 52 - Blood Rites by Jim Butcher

* Invariably, 90% of my book quotes will come from Jim Butcher books ;)
