Hello,

I don't read graphic novels so forgive me for my ignorance. But does anyone know of any graphic novels which show british urban decay. I'm looking for something that shows a down and out character. A real hard luck story in contemporary britain. It is a research assignment. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

The Vertigo series called Hellblazer is full of that. Sure its supernatural, magus main character.

But you wont see more and better comics stories about urban british decay. It helped that many great british writers wrote that series.

In one of the latest GN collection of the recent stories. The story is called Joyride:

Constantine discovers that there is a supernatural cause for the violence, crime and drug abuse of South London's Hunger Hill housing estate, and he must bring this cycle of misery and violence to an end.

You cant get more urban than a story about crime, violence, drugs, human suffering in a concrete jungle.

how about SKIZZ by alan moore/jim baikie
its about an alien that crash lands in 80s britan or birmingham
it was origanaly writen in the 80s for 2000ad
not the best comic in the world but worth a look

Odd that no-one suggested V for Vendetta. Don't know that there was ever a comic, but Children of Men might have been good for mood too.
