Im 2/3 of the way through the riftwar saga and tomas is my favourite character. Is he ever a major character? I think he has potential to be a really good character but he hardly appears.

its been so long since i read them,
he appears some in the latter books but he is mainly featered in the first trilogy

I'd say that Tomas is always a major character but, like hammerhead said, his activities are somewhat limited throughout the following series

I was always a touch disappointed that he doesn't appear more in the later series though he does pop up from time to time and he's absence does kind of suit the character (imo) but from memory he is fairly prominant in A Darkness at Sethanon.

Yes, he plays a major part in DaS, he is always in the background in later series but not a major player. You have to remember Tomas main concern is Elevander so unless Feist sets a book centring around Elevander and the elves. Tomas is always going to be a bit player.

Like everybody says, Tomas is always there but is called upon relatively rarely. I have a feeling he might become more prominent in the next series though.

Since his attachment is to Elvandar he really only appears when something really big is happening because otherwise it doesn't really affect the elves directly.

If I remember right, Tomas rarely appears after the first trilogy and only ever gets in the middle of the action in these books:

- Magician
- Silverthorn
- A Darkness at Sethanon
- Flight of the Nighthawks

Tomas may have a minor impact on the story in some other books, but those are as I recall the only books where he actually gets something to fight. In Magician and A Darkness at Sethanon he plays a big part of the story as well as the action. In Silverthorn it's a pretty unimportant fight. In Flight of the Nighthawks, he fights one person and barely wins, and doesn't kill him.

Tomas has a much larger part in the latest Feist book, Rides a Dread Legion, book one of the Demonwar saga. I would expect he will be even more prominent in the next book, Return of the Demon King.

That makes me very happy:D. Even though I don't have the money to buy it:(.

He also fights in

- Rage of a Demon King (The Demon King)
- Shards of A Broken Crown (Zaltais, Nalars dream)
- Exiles Return (Bunch of Death-dancers and Blackslayers)
