Sorry for another help me find it request, but I've trying to locate the title of a novel a read years ago and haven't been able to locate it. I'm hoping some here will recognize my description. As I remember it (probably wrong, but here it goes)
-Story about earth communicating with aliens on a distant planet who's lifes pass way quicker than ours, told from the point of view of the aliens
-Traces thier history and evolution
-Earth sends a probe or a radio signal or something that they pick-up, they don't know what it is, but over time they monitor and start to understand it
-We establish communication with them and start sending them information, but by the end they are way more advanced than us
