I went to Raymond E Feists website and stumbled onto the reading order of his books. Alternate Reading Order | The Official Raymond E. Feist Website

I would like to know I have been very naughty and read half of Magician ( I was not into reading long books) and read the whole of Silverthorn. I was given the first 2 books of the Conclave of Shadows series, would I be missing out on anything that might be mentioned in previous books? I am planning on "re-reading" Magician and getting Darkness at Sethanon. Is it vital to read the rest of the books in the order he has setup or can I get away with it? By getting away with it I mean like skipping the Empire trilogy and continuing with the Serpentwar Saga after completeing Conclave or Riftwar?

Right i'll try this one ;) firstly read the riftwar saga, - Magican, Silverthorn then Darkness at Sethanon. They're some of his best work and are a must to help with furture books as in characters and events etc.

You could read the Mistress series if you wish, many haven't read them as they are not specifically linked to the running of the main story back on Midkemia and are based soley on the kelewan world. (some poeople perfer these books for thier political intrigue plots.
I personally skipped the Mistress books till a lot later.

You can either read or skip the Legends of the Riftwar books Honoured enemy etc and the Krondor books, but again they can be read later with out missing any crucial plots mentioned in any future books, they're both more stand alone series that are aet in Midkemia.

Events in Prince of the Blood and King's Buccineer do not hold much sway in furture books, but I enjoyed them both and would recommend you read them plus PotB introduces a certain gambler who plays a big part in future series.

You have to read the serpent war saga, in my opinion his best work and will introduce some new characters mentioned in the later books

After them you can go where you like either back to the ones you've missed out or continue with the Conclaves and onward.

Whew, hope that helps :) .

I wouldn't recommend skipping Prince of the Blood or Kings Buccaneer, well not central to the Serpent War saga they still tie in. POFTB introduces us to Nakor and KB gives us our first trip to Novindus. If you want to skip the Legend books and the Krondor books fine. For me it would be Riftwar War then the Empire series, POTB, KB, Serpent War, Conclave etc

OK, I will start looking for the other books then in the mean time and leave Talon of the Silver Hawk for a while. It would make sense to read the others before. Feist is the writer who got me hooked on fantasy but have neglected him over the years so I would really like to get back him.

The Krondor books tie in much later, as Sidi from the Krondor series is the same evil/insane mage as in Jimmy the Hand, and is also Leso Varen in the Conclave/Darkwar series.
