If you see a stranger, follow him.
The Spanish language film, El Orfanato, was one of the best suspense/horror films I've seen in a long time.

Laura, Carlos, and thier son Simon move into an old orphange, Laura's childhood home, with plans of providing a home to a few special needs children. When Simon's imaginary playmates become a little too mischevious, Laura becomes suspicious of them. Tragedy insues, and with the help of her childhood memories, Laura must onlock the secrets of the orphange.

It's atmospheric to apoint of being spooky, and although this movie doesn't fall into the traditional horror guidlines, it's a ghost story that is truly haunting to watch.

Yes it's a wonderful film right to the end which was sad but not sad and very fitting. I wish they had shown it in the cinema here. I saw it at home on DVD. It's spooky and creepy and manages to get effectively under your skin. One of the best I've seen in a long time too.

I think it was on limited release in UK cinemas about a month ago. I had heard good things about it but didn't catch it at the cinema, unfortunately. I will see the DVD in time.

Another recent Spanish horror film that is supposed to be good; "Rec". Apparently it is a bit 28 Days Later, supposed to be quite harrowing!

And a final word on Spanish horror; for people who have access to BBC4 there has been a season of Spanish, made for TV, horror themed dramas on Tuesday nights for the last month or so. Some pretty good...look out for them!
