I've just seen the film and was checking out the books for fun's sake. Are they heavily illustrated?

From memory I don't think they were, but I didn't enjoy them as much as I have some other fantasy. They were written for a younger audience than I was.

I can't find my sons book, but I think it had quite a few illustrations, although not like a picture book. I think the drawings were every few pages, and didn't take up an entire page or anything, just small drawings of the characters of to the side and around chapter headings kind of thing.
