Having had ample success with Saturday night television, Doctor Who and Robin Hood, it seems as if the BBC are prepared to add a third series to that list: Merlin.
This will follow the lives of King Arthur and Merlin but show there adventures when they were a lot younger than the famous mythos, showing the duo as they are growing up heading toward their destinies, much in the way that Smallville shows Clark Kent and Lex Luthor.
The main roles are unknowns, but Arthur's father, will be plaid by Anthony Head (Giles from Buffy) and Merlin's master will be played by Richard (Victor Meldrew) Wilson
Is the world ready for yet another take on the Arthurian legends?
And if so is this the format to do it in?
There is an excellent article in the latest SFX magazine, or:
