I absolutely loved this book.
Congratulations Mark, the story was amazing
I'll admit I was worried before reading the book, as the problem with Dragon Stories is that there are so many out there that authors really have to create a unique and gripping story in order to satisfy what is such a big part of fantasy.
You did this really well Mark, your new series has given readers something new in the world of dragon stories, which stands far out above many other books.
The use of phobias and compulsion really enhanced the characters and made them seem more real and human, rather than the hero in a lot of fantasy stories who isn't afraid of anything. Nolita was such an excellent character and readers are going to be able to relate to her, because for once the fearful character turns out to be the hero.
The dragons were also really well done, with the different varieties present in the story appearing unique and allowing readers to experience a different type of dragon than if they were to read another story, which in turn makes the story unique.
The dialogue was witty, strong and believable, which contributed to the success of the book and will be sure to continue the success of the series
The contrast between the four main characters also contributed to my enjoyment of the book, as it is boring when all of the characters appear the same and have similar ideas. All of the four main characters were uniqe characters with their own opinions and ideas, which made them easier to relate to, and I will certainly enjoy watching them develop as the series continues!
I also particularly enjoyed the visit to Earth, where the dragons faced off against the planes! It was very interesting to see the characters perspective on the weaponry and the world, as well as amusing when Jack first saw the dragons!
Overall, I found Firestorm to be an excellent read, and I cannot wait until Shadow is released, which I'm sure will be just as good, if not better, than Firestorm!
Well done, Mark!
