Reality of Superpowers

I am trying to find out the name of the graphic novel recollecting what the actual outcomes of Marvel characters gaining their super powers with a realistic standpoint.

If anybody knows about this I would be grateful to know the name of the title because it really interests me.

I'm normally quite good at comic books, but this leaves me blank, I'm thinking Marvels, but that was just telling the key moments of the Marvel Universe from the street level, there was fantastic artwork by Alex Ross, the series was written by Alex Ross.

A few years later there was an alternative take called Ruins by Warren Ellis that looked at what would have happened if it all went wrong...

Hrrm, I am aware that's not Marvel's but what it is, is a detective looking at cases of the well know marvel heroes describing what would happen in a somewhat realistic point of view on how the get their powers or when they first use them.

Example: Human Torch lights on fire and burns to death,
Peter Parker is hospitalized with radiation poisoning,
Mr. Fantastic cannot stretch bake to his original shape.

Hi Nathan, what you describe above is definately the book Ruins, done as an alternative/inverse version of Marvels.

There does not seem to be a copy available on Amazon (UK any way), and only one set up for grabs on ebay.
