BEWARE!!! THERE BE SPOILERS HERE!! AAAARGH!

Okay, the Mistress of Vocabulary herself has now posted two, count 'em, two, snippets from the first four chapter sets of the ninth book of The Wars of Light and Shadow, namely the first book Arc IV, The Sword of the Canon: Initiate's Trial.

These are posted on her website, and by her express wish, and in particular for copyright reasons, one must go there to read them. But they are tasty little morsels indeed.

The first concerns Asandir and a showdown with Morriel/Selidie, and some bitter defeat suffered by the Fellowship in years past. Here is the link:

Simply click on the link, click again on The Sword of the Canon: Initiates Trial, and then click on First Sneak Preview.

The second is even tastier that that one, and certain things become clear. Initiate's Trial is going to jump ahead in time (or around in time, who knows?). We get a Sulfin Evend descendant!

Just like above, and then click on Second Sneak Preview.

Enjoy!!

"Excitable boy, they all said" ;)

Then again, what's not to get excited about?

*Bows to the Clannish One*

A neat little turn that lets us have something of everyone's favorite lord commander, well after his demise. If you get the chance, good sir, weigh in with your thoughts on what I stumbled over ( Dek finds things, I trip over them! ) from my Grand Conspiracy re-read...

All right, yes I know she has to jump ahead, but I'm going to miss Sulfin Evend. There better be lots of flashbacks explaining what happened to him...well, there probably will be. But all the same I am getting the impression that this new arc is going to be like walking into a room full of strangers. And what about Lirenda? Are we going to lose Lirenda???

Relax, my good bear. Such a jump leaves room for a nice novella, which is a seed I tried to plant yesterday. This train ride is coming to an end in the foreseeable future, but there are huge swaths of plot that JW has not covered, and this might be one. Flashbacks would be good too, but the phrase "most nefarious heretic" being attached to Sulfin Evend has me drooling. It is not a huge surprise, given his development, but it is juicy.

And what does "he succeeded" mean?

Grim, I'll pop over to the other thread...

A new snippet is posted! Snippet No. 5! Asks more questions than it answers, though...

Click on the link, scroll down, select the sub-forum "Arc 4: Sword of the Canon: Initiate's Trial", and then select the thread "Sneak Preview #5 -retort to the lousy blurb".

This was in response to a rather awful blurb on HarperCollins UK's website, that was written by someone who has not read the book or any drafts thereof (because they have not been turned in to the publisher), but were poor guesses. Her advice on her website was to not read it, as it is not helpful to revealing the plot, but just confusing to your expectations.

I should say. It poses a lot more questions than it answers, and just makes me want the book that much more.

Aye. Now that was a snippet.

How to have wrested the lyranthe from him in the first place?

And captive of the Koriani......didn't see that coming. I can see I'll have to read Stormed Fortress again beforehand, that's for sure.

Dakar messed up big time during the ceremony in Athir when his daughter was conceived. Read carefully.

A note about the cover: Amazon has the book listed for preorder with a cover that is for Stormed Fortress .... it has 'Initiate's Trial' for the title! Outrageous behavior on the part of Amazon. I've edited it twice on the Goodreads site. I hope it stays the correct 'no image' until the publishers have the cover ready.

I am so psyched for this book to come out! Can't wait!

Just read the fifth sneak preview and my stomach is literally churning with excitement!

Such incredible depth of writing, I fail miserably when it comes to trying to describe the feelings that Janny Wurts is able to bring out in me when reading her words....

WOW is the best I can manage!!
