Bookcrossing...

Yep, had many books like this on subway stations and left others but usually it was done informally.
Pretty good idea to generalize it, books are made to be read.

Ah, trust the French to be informal about these things...

I don't think I could ever pick up a book someone left on a table or chair... Or if I could pick one up either...

And I love my collection WHY too much to lose it... :D

If I really enjoyed a book, I'd go down tot he local market and buy a 2nd hand copy, then set it free witha bookcrossing sticker in it :)

Problem in a flat, there's no much room for books. So every few months, I have the saddening decision to separate from some of my books : only keeps the ones I gonna re-read for sure.

But I've discovered some great books in subway. The last one was a Chester Himes novel.

Been a member for a while, as a matter of fact until this week a link to the website was in my signature. I now nominate The Master for the title of Most Unobservant :D

Most Unobservant??? I object... I don't go stalking people on the board by checking EVERYTHING in their signatures... That would be scary!!! :D

And until I heard about bookcrossing on the radio last night, I didn't know anything about it... ;)

You know I'm just teasing you! It's a great place. My nick there is also dwndrgn so you can see the (terribly small number) of books I've set free since I joined. Quite a few of the ones I've 'set free' have just never shown up so my list is smaller than it normally would be.

How many readers here have done this, left a book in a public place for someone else to pick it up?

I have given books away to the local library. But not left a book anywhere else thinking someone would pick it up. I also tend to try and keep as many as I can :D

Sometimes when people like something, they like to share that something with other people.

I can't be parted from my favourite books, so I say let others get their own copy :D
