I cannot track down this short story. It would have been published in F&SF or some similar small format magazine (but not, I think, Analog), along about 1964-65. As I recall, it was not in a paperback, but it's been fortyfour years minimum so I could be wrong. It was comic, somewhat free association in its style, and included references to something called the Brass Nodes of the Universe--which were housed in a tent and unimpressive in person--and, perhaps, a nude statue several miles high that drove a race insane from seeing it on their horizon, with other amusing elements. I could rest, finally, if I could find the title and author of this peculiar story. Thanks for any suggestions.

I've moved this over to the Book Search section where it'll likely gain a bit more attention from folks who may be able to help you locate it. Good luck!

This is the somewhat obscure writer Mose Malette’s even more obscure story “Seven Wonders of the Universe” from the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, August ‘66.

It is an odd, comic New Wave story of the seven wonders, which include: “The Brass Nodes of the Universe” among things like “Copulation Pits of Venus (Western Section)” and “The Great Bearded Kumquat of Lagesh.”
