Jon Sample Chapter

Hi All,

I seem to have missed the Jon sample chapter while it was up on the GRRM site and I was just wondering if it was available elsewhere.

Also someone mentioned that there were two?
 
If you missed it on his site, it's hard to find, someone else maybe able to give you better directions than I.

The only mention of the second Jon chapter, that I'm aware of, came from Wert, and he was able to catch it as a GRRM reading at a convention if I remember correctly.
 
It is perhaps possible that its on the publisher's website. It is unlawful for anyone else to host it, not to say someone out there isn't...
 
Yeah I thought as much.

I obviously havn't been checking his site very much, got the blog on rss waiting for ADWD update. How well are they actually rotating the sample chapters?
 
well, i missed it too, all i know is melisandre said something about hinges, and that ome dude made a map about it making it seem as though castle black, braavos and asshai lie directly on the same line, and that asshai and the north lie completely opposite each other, and if the world is round, completely next to each other.

unless somebody mentions an update on this forum, i never heck grrm's website.
 
I made a copy of the Jon sample chapter and saved it into notepad. My guess is that since it's already been disseminated on GRRM's website that it would be ok to report it, but I'll wait a bit to see if i get a PM or reply post before doing so.

I think GRRM has released a Tyrion, Jon, and a Daenerys chapter. There are a ton of "sample" chapters on westeros.org but I don't count those. They are written up by people who heard GRRM read the chapters at a convention. Generally, the write-ups are very poor and probably misleading since without GRRM's words it's hard to *really* know what's going on.
 
Kiwi, if I recall correctly, the sample you're referring to is actually titled Reek.
 
viZ, good job of being the research monkey... So the chapter does not have a title... I was wrong. Mayhaps it's the prologue...

I think it was titled "Reek" in the print copies that were handed out at some conventions. Amazon just neglected to title it. Still, I think that's the best preview chapter released so far. Certainly the most gut-wrenching.

It's certainly one of the more disturbing things that GRRM has written. I'm not squeamish but for me it was almost hard to read. I actually found myself pitying Theon, something I never imagined I'd do.
 
I'm completely squeamish... I'm scared at everything.
