There's only about a week to go until we close the competition for the laptop at www.markrobsonauthor.com

The 20 signed copies of Firestorm and the Laptop computer will be given away in just over a week. Not long to learn to fly your dragon past the catapults! Register any score (no matter how pathetic) by entering your name and email address and you will be entered into the draw for the books. Get to the end of the game and register your score to be entered into the draw for the laptop.

You will be sent a single email once the draw has been made to tell you if you have won, or not. The database will then be wiped clean ready for the next competition, which is planned for early next year. There will be no junk mail associated with this game. Your details will not be passed to any third parties.

Good luck. :)

I'm so slow hon I didn't even know you were having a contest!

Mark - If I win, I'll buy you some chocolates next time you're in Witney. Hint hint

Scrap that, now you'll stop me from winning in case people think i've bribed you. ;)

LOL! Bribe away! Unfortunately it will do you no good. I am having nothing to do with the drawing of the winners. That is all being done by the good people in the Marketing Office at Simon & Schusters.

I can tell you that although this competition has finished, there will be another one soon. The game will get a make over - catapults will move around etc. and a new set of prizes will be up for grabs. More news shortly. :D

Edit: Oh, and I can reveal that only 21 people actually completed level 5 and got all 5 answers correct. For those who did it, the odds are not bad.

You'll have to let us know the secret of high scores, cos I had no chance. I'm guessing my laptop was too old to run it properly... hint... hint... never mind.

Actually I was going to bribe you with red wine, but not only will it apparently not make a difference, but it would also give a bad name to those of us from Witney!

Lol, nice try.

It's too late for that! Mark never comes to see us anyway so it doesn't matter what name we get.

I might finally actually win something then. Does that mean it's more likely for me to win a laptop than a book? If there's more than 420 entries I believe it does.

Well so far we've tried bribery and holding his umbrella hostage, and I thought Witney was a nice place to live.

Besides, he's been here twice in the last few months, you've got to let the guy spend a little time on the actual writing ;)

Quite simply it means you have a one in 21 chance of winning a laptop, Threddy. In fact with all the book prizes available as well, I would say that about one in every 17 people who played the game and registered a score will win something. That's not bad odds, really.

Edit: All duplicate entries were deleted, so that everyone will only be entered into each draw once, thereby giving everyone an equal chance of winning. Those who got 5/5 on the final level will be entered for both draws. There were over 600 scores registered by about 340 different people.

Well I won something...unfortunately the e-mail doesn't specify what!!!

lol
guess we wait and see....too much waiting!
I think they want us to die of suspense so they don't actually have to give out the prizes!

I checked my email and could not believe my eyes!!!

They make herbal variants on everything these days.

Unfortunately no competition emails. I'll just have to do it the old fashioned way and get it signed next time Mark's in Witney. Congratulations to those who did win though, and a pre-emptive good luck to us all for next time :D

Guess who's won something! Me!!!

Although, I'm confused. How can I be a winner/runner-up? It was sent to 21 people, because there are 21 prizes, but surely not all of those people got to the end of level five. so does that mean that some people in the draw for the laptop are no longer in the draw for the laptop?

Also, one of the emails was sent to Mark Robson. Either, you have one heck of a fan who has their email address named after you, a different Mark Robson has won a prize, or you're winning one of your own prizes? I smell a rat. Lol!

I'm very happy though, I never win anything.

P.s. What a confusing post.

Basically threddy I think they have made the draws and know who has one the laptop and who has won a book, but they haven't told us who has won exactly what yet.

Mark winning is hilariously funny though, if it wasn't a crazy fan!

As I haven't had an email, I'm guessing there must be another Mark Robson out there. I didn't notice him as I filtered the list of entries, but I wasn't really looking that hard. I deleted all my own scores and those of any other members of my immediate family. It would have looked a bit incestuous if the line up of prizewinners were all Robsons!

It is amusing, though! :)
