Neal Asher - Gabble

I picked this up today in my latest book haul. (I've been reading the Technician so i'm hoping to learn more about the Hooders, Gabbleducks and the Atheter from this collection.

I started reading this today. I'm not really into short stories too much, but after reading "The Technician", i find that i want to know more about the Gabbleducks and their odd mutterings.

I finished his last night and found it pretty enjoyable and there were some great stories. I particularly enjoyed Alien Archaeology, Acephalous Dreams and hope hat somehow Neil can revisit the Csorians), Snow in the desert was also very good and the tile story of the Gabble was also a great read. (I recently read the excellent "The Technician" so it was nice to read a little about the Gabble again.)

I too am generally not a great short story reader, but I did very much enjoy this collection especially as it gave so much background info on the Polity, and all it's various denizens and their predecessors.

AJ you might want to check out this thread in which Neal gives the chronological order of the books (rather than publication order) which makes a pretty good guide to the correct reading order. I have read most of them following this order which worked well for me (only exception was that I started with Gridlinked instead of Prador Moon 'cos I hadn't seen that thread at that time!)

All the books in that chronology are from the same Polity Universe as The Gabble.
