(Found) Get N Old - Undersea research vessel, murder, cloning

In the 80's I read a fantasy novel with a plot consisting of an undersea research vessel that found a cave very deep under the ocean. Their ship was pulled into the cave by people who used cloning to reproduce themselves as they aged.Their idyllic livestyle was damaged by a homophobic murder. Any help? Thanks

Are you sure that it is from the 80s? It sounds very similar to Robin Cook's book Abduction. Even if that is not the one you are thinking... sounds like the exact same book.
