Looking for post apocolystical books preferably dealing with far future generations looking at earth in todays period.

Similar to McDevitts Eternity Road.

Any pointers, Ta.

This is a more refined question though.

You probably can't go past A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M Miller where they are trying to rediscover earth's technology although society is pretty much reverted to medievalism.

These books are post apocalypse set in the far future:

Macrolife, by George Zebrowski
Last and First Men, by Olaf Stapledon
The Einstein Intersection, by Samuel Delaney
Galapagos, by Kurt Vonnegut
Dawn, and the entire Lilith's Brood trilogy, by Octavia Butler
Earthling, by Tony Daniel (maybe not so far future)

There was one I remember reading at about age 12? Starman's Son.

The Starmen, were part of the astronaut corps before a nuclear war. Afterward, they became the keepers and rediscoverers of lost knowledge. The story revols around one man's expedition into the ruins of New York City.
