Could anyone explain why Oromis had to die in the end of Brising?

I've been shocked by that for the last day or so, even though I usually retain a sense of impartiality towards anything what happens. Yet, Oromis' death was able to pierce through the personal 'walls'... and I'd like to understand what made it necessay to kill him off.

Can anyone help me?

It's only been a month since I read Eldest, and... I can't remember who Oromis was!

Haven't read Brisingr yet, and probably won't unless I can get ahold of an audio version...

I think it's :
A) Oromis and glaedr's desths are going to have something to do with in the next book, or books following on.
B)Galbotorix is going to try to absorb the elduanari and finds that he can't, and eragon finds a weakness in galbatorix

And possibly C) Glaedr's eldunari will strengthen Eragon and give him the the ability to overcome Galbatorix.

I'm also wondering what Eragon lost when he gained the steel for his sword from under the Menoa tree. Remember how he felt a pain low down in his belly, and the spirit wouldn't tell him what she had taken? Has she rendered him sterile or something???? And all these prophecies about how he will end up exiled from Alagaesia ... could this possibly indicate requited love in Ellesmera?

I hope we won't have to wait quite as long for the next book as we did for Brisingr. I thought Brisingr was very much better than the previous two.

I agree with greylin; the whole buisiness of the dragon's heart of hearts would have been difficult to deal with unless Oromis and Glaedr died.

Just a general thought, now: something that really bugged me about Brisingr was that I thought it was the last book in the Cycle. I wouldn't have read the first three books (I always do series back-to-back) if I had known that there was going to be a fourth book. Now... how long am I going to have to wait until I find out what the Menoa tree wanted?!

>.<

So he killed off Yoda (err I mean Oromis, of course) in the penultimate book? Gee never seen that one before ;)

Sorry, sorry Paolini fans, I just could not resist, no harm intended :D
