Im in strange mood, the problem is that i cant read other than Steven Erikson or George RR Martin.. Im forcing myself but when i opened a Game of thrones or Memories of ice or gotm i feel alive and peaceful and thinking that my time is not wasting..(last book of Joe Abercrombie was also really good)

So what must i do? or at the moment do you have any strong suggestions about the same level with these two authors(no less) ?

Well I know the feeling, although for different reasons. Life is making things so hard for me to read right now that just picking up a book is hard going, let alone getting the chance to really read it.

That being said: I don't know if it's just fantasy that you read, but I was completely sucked into RED MARS by Kim Stanley Robinson - that was SF though.

I've been slowly making my way through PERDIDO STREET STATION by Chine Mieville,
as I say I don't really have that much time to read, but the first few chapter of this book took my breath away, simply stunning and different as well.

And if you are after more traditional fair, then there is THE NAME OF THE WIND by Patrick Rothfuss, a lot of people (myself included) have been pushing this as the next big thing!

I read The Name of the Wind. It was a nice book. But I seriously thinking about what we will do after SE finished the Crippled God and series. Hey! at least it looks like GRRM's ASoIaF will never end(but also i think he will never publish a new book either..) Now im trying Conn Iggulden's Emperor series :D

I really enjoyed Iggulden's Emperor books, hope you enjoy them.
I'm also struggling to figure out where I go after i finish the Malazan series. I've recently bought a glen cook omnibus and am looking to get Ian Esselmont's Malazan books, after that, who knows? Theres a few historic fiction books I want to get and am thinking of lookin into China Mieville

Won't Erikson be starting a new series after this? Though the time in between books will be longer than it is currently (1 year), it's still still better than nothing :)

Try Paul Kearney's The Ten Thousand. It is less complex than Erikson, but it is military low fantasy, set in a Hellenic-type age (ancient Greece, pre-Rome). Erikson really digs Kearney, so you might like him too. I'm about half way through, and I really quite like it.

Have any of you read R.Scott.Bakker?
I think his writing is at least as interesting as Erikson's and definitely worth a look!

Have you tried Russell Kirpatricks 'Fire of Heaven' trilogy? I enjoyed it and am now reading his 2nd epic series.
Another I often put forward is Patrick Rothfuss, 'The Name of the Wind'. It's his first novel, I thoroughly enjoyed it and the 'blurps' have been very complimentary.

I have given The Darkness That Comes Before a go and didn't really like it. I don't know if I want to continue on with it, not really enough going on in the first half of the book, at least compared to something like a book in Erikson's Malazan series.

I read R Scott Bakkers Darkness that comes before series. Its was very good. I think he is my 3rd or 4th writer after GRRM and SE. Patrick Rothfuss is also promising but im waiting for his new novel about kvothe

i will look to Fire of Heaven
also at the moment im ordering Peter Brett's The Painted man, theres too much good reviews on amazon about it..

Apparently he's planning two write two further trilogies set in the Malazan world. The first will be Anomander Rake's back story. No info on the second yet.

I've heard that the first trilogy will be based on Kharkanas, first city of the Tiste Andii. The second trilogy's on the Thelomen Tarthental Toblakai (sp?) i.e. Karsa and co.

Sounds interesting!!

here are r two authors to try brent weeks and tom lloyd, both were have a flair for writing on an uncomplicated fashion but imparting quite a lot of information to the reader with out seeming to try, really enjoyed both series (lloyd is not yet finished)
also i agree about trying paul kearney try his sea beggars duology first it was quite good.
and perhaps if you can still get them "the winter of the world series" by micheal scott rohan.
also i tried j.v jones new series which starts with a cavern of black ice or the earlier one which starts with bakers boy, i found her style of writing very enjoyable, thats all i can think of off the top of my head so hope that gives you some succour:)

oh and fedos i really think you should continue on with bakker's series, it was a grind but became well worth it in my opinion

Yes Bakker is excellent and one of the best EPIC series to come along in the last 25 years along with Martin and Erikson of course.

Glenn Cook is worth a look as he's basically credited with initiating the spate of so-called military fantasy ala Bakker, Kearney, Erikson and to a lesser extent Martin.

As already mentioned Abercrombie's debut trilogy was very good.

I've got Lloyd's first 3 books and after starting on the first it does look good.
