Well, this is a bog standard poll, no imagination needed, but anyone with an opinion can answer. Which is the best series of trek to date?:D

DS9, it's the closer to Babylon 5 spirit. And a lot of new great characters.

I've voted TNG, but its difficult for me, because I love TOS and voyager as well. I think I have a special fondness for TNG becuase of Patric Stewart as Picard. He made that series. And of course John de Lancie as Q. So fantasic as the evolved life form struggling to understand the frailties and paradoxes of humanity.
Also, although TOS was about when I was a kid, I was to young to appreciate it. So for me, Star Trek really started with TNG.

For me it has to be the original series.
The sets were shoddy (and often repeated) the effects were basic to say the least, but the stories were imaginative, inventive and still, years later, enjoyable to watch.

I enjoy DS9, TNG & Voyager but it always rankled with me when I saw an episode which was a blatant re-do of an original series one.

I've just bought the original series on dvd and am having a great time watching them all over again! :D

DS9 DS9 DS9 DS9. Much to good to be Star Trek, but there you are. Not that Star Trek original isn't good in a kitch way, but you know what I mean.

StarTrek is supposed to be about exploration and growth, I could never get in DS9 for two reasons
1. they just sat on the station
2. the ferengi are a pathetic species and were over used

To be honest, I loved them all for different reasons... The ideas, the concepts, the silliness, the characters, the fantasy and escapism!!!!

Couldn't really choose a real favourite... :D A true TREK FAN!!!

It was a toss-up between the original series and NextGen - but NextGen, although had its moments, was a bit too variable.

And, besides, I bought the first season of the original series, but no other Trek, so I guess I've already voted with my wallet. :)

I went with DS9 because it was always the one that I watched the most regularly. Having just terrestrial has its downsides... Once my budget allows, I'm going to start collecting all the DVD box sets. I liked DS9, but I have to admit that TNG came close, I thought Data was a great character.

i thought i would join in the discussion i hope you dont mind? i think DS9 and NG were the best 2 series ever, enterprise is ok but not that brill the only character i like is porthos.
In DS9 i thought the changlings were creepy! any one else think that? and my favourite in NG was Geordi!

The Next Generation, for me, was the best. I've got the whole series on DVD :D

I like TNG, voyager and the new enterprise series. I also like the big battles on DS9 but nothing else, it was a little boring having a starbase were the most exciting thing which would happen was cargo went missing although it did get good later on. as for TNG they have the best characters in star trek, you've got Patric Stuart as captain (one of my fav actors), you got Ricker as second, and then you have data the android who through his quest to become more human brings a lot of funny parts to the series and also you have worf the paranoid klingon who wants to blow everything to bits.

as for the new star trek enterprise at first i thought it was rubbish but once i actually watched a few episodes i saw that it was actually really good, its a lot more kirk style left hook, right swing action then TNGs diplomacy and resolve through peace. its the only star trek where there is fighting nearly every episode.

but i voted for voyager because its flying through the delta quadrant 70 years from earth and seeing all these powerful species like the borg and species 8472, and also because of the ship they are travelling in the intrepid class starship which i think looks really cool. but the main reason i voted for voyager is because of 7 of 9 dam she’s hot :D

I like the original TNG and voyager. Have never been able to get into voyager - find it a bit boring to be honest.

But it was a toss up between TNG and voyager for me. I went for voyager. Mostly because it has two of the most annoying characters: 1) the doctor, and 2) that psychic women who always seems to be having serious headpains, damn whats her name??? .

Does woopy Goldburg appear in TNG as well? If so she annoys me as well.

And partly because i think Janeways an immense captain (incase you haven't guessed how the women are in star treck is a big factor to me!)

Do you mean Kes??? other than that I can think of no-one who had "serious headpains" and even then it was only for a few episodes while they brought her character to a close.

Im sorry what was your favourite, I cant understand what you said.

As well as what?? I think TNG is the only series Whoopi is in, unless she pops up for a guest appearance in DS9, though I dont think so.

I would have to vote for Voyager.

I think for really the first time in ST history they fully empowered a woman. Kate Mulgrew is wonderful in the role as Janeway and with so many other fantastic characters by the forth season in really had grown into an awesome show with some fantastic Alien Species.

DS9 I think is extremely under-rated, I believe that show to be awesome also with Benjamin Sisko(Avery Brooks) being a very talented actor and as we found out a wonderfull singer too. DS9 really took off when Worf joined it and his tragic love affair with Dax was enough to reduce me to tears. Vic Fontain is probably the best holodeck Character ever.

I love all of the Star Trek series and think that they have all deserved a place in this wonderful galaxy. I hope we have not seen the back of this Universe with the premature demise of Enterprise.

picard and data from TNG

this was easily the best of the series.

and it spawned some pretty cool films

Definitely the original series. Classic characters and stories, that made up for the lack of budget, and how it's dated. (In fact, a lot of the production design makes it look very individual and different!)
TNG - some very good actors,(Patrick Stewart is now the chancellor of my old uni! :D) for the most part wasted on repetitive and poor stories, except for the rare exception (usually a plot nicked from the original series)
DS9 - Yawn! Also, none of the characters were particularly interesting to make you care. They also nicked the basic plot from B5 (I know DS9 came out before, but B5 was pitched to paramount a year or two before DS9 came out, and even had a shape shifting security chief in its original draft... hmmm...)
Voyager - hit and miss. Mostly miss. Shame, as it had more potential and better characters (For the most part) than DS9.
Enterprise. - killed itself by a very poor first season, a better but still mostly mediocre 2nd season. By the 3rd, it got much better, but by then it was too late. Definitely had the potential to be the best series after the orginal though.
