Heya all, I'm pretty new here. Read some threads here before, and figured this was the place to go when suddenly a question popped into my head.

What is actually Pug's strongest point?

I've read the Riftwar saga, Serpentwar saga, and the two books about Arutha's sons. I've just started on Talon of a silver hawk.

But back to my question, what's his strongest point?

Miranda's a 'better' magician, not more powerful but more skilled. Or that's my impression so far at least :p

He's pretty powerful, but Feist has already given lots of hints that Magnus will become even stronger, and wasn't Macros even stronger? (or maybe is, as I think that ol' guy's still alive somewhere :D)

And I think Nakor surpasses him on the smartest scala. Nakor rocks ^^

This is probably a really silly thing to wonder about but I just couldn't get it out of my mind hehe.

Oh and if this has been mentioned before, sorry, but didn't spot it when I read through :s

What do you mean by "Pug's strongest point"?

What he's supreme at?

Welcome btw mate:D

Yeah, that's what I meant hehe.

And thanks man :D

It's hard to say because he doesn't "blow his own trumpet" so to speak. lol.

He's a patient dude anyway. He's brilliant at identifying mage set traps and spells unlike Miranda and Magnus who takes after his mother, they are just too brash and forceful. (he's brilliant except from the incident with the Demon:eek:)

I would say that Pug 's a very powerful mage, only macros is possibly more powerful, (or even of equal power) but macros has been around for a hell of a lot longer. Same goes for Miranda who's also a lot older than Pug and therefore more used to her magic.

Pugs' main thing at the start of the series was that he was adept at lower and higher paths of magic, where as most mages are only adept at one of the paths.

Hope that makes sense?

and welcome, Hope you enjoy the Chrons

With respect, I suggest, in order to answer this question, that you go back and read the books. Start with Magician and the Riftwar Series. You can't figure this place out without the Riftwar and Serpentwar series. Your starting nearer to the end. I would even suggest the Empire series (the collaboration with Janny Wurts) prior to where you are.

You'd know all about Pug if you read Magician, which is really his early life story (hence the title). Is there a consensus on the Chrons as to whether the original edition or the 20th anniversary edition with new edits/content is better? Anyway, go back to the beginning. Patience, Grasshopper. Wisdom comes with time (and actually reading the books).

He's already read them hasn't he? lol

Pug's strongest points, well he's adapt at both lower and higher paths. I wouldn't say that Miranda or Marcos are more powerful, more skilled due to having more time to finely tune their skills. Pug also has the power of two worlds, he draws from both Midkemia and Kelwan as long as a rift exists. After what happened in last book he mat be slightly less powerful. Pug is constantly growing in power and skill, I think he could now make what he done at the games look like a parlour trick. Magnus has the potential to be more powerful than any mage who came before if he survives long enough.

Then again maybe his strongest points are his love for his family and friends , his loyalty to the conclave etc

Sorry, I totally misread the first post! He did read them. Having said that, I should think that the question answers itself, no?

It should do really. He's good at practically everything, but like the others said he knows the lower and higher path witch could be his strongest point but is a little vague:p

I don't know what his strongest capability is but I think the teleporting himself trick is the coolest. To be able to teleport any where he had been before is probably a handy little move. Imagine the reduction in travel time to work and back.

I may be wrong but i thought Miranda was the one who could do that, Pug uses an orb from Kelewan to get about or has to be very familiar with the place he's going.
When on Kelewan the mages use mosiac designs in thier houses to help them transport to a place, Pug has used this method to go from sorcerers' isle to the academy, or he can jump from site to site when he can see the destination.

Yeah pug struggles with the teleportation thing.

I think Pug will never be able to grasp how to utilise the teleportation skill properly; maybe it's something to do with a special use of concentration that Miranda seems to be able to acknowledge and Pug doesn't?

Didn't Pug realize along with Nakor that "there is no magic", that there is no lesser path or greater path? Thus elevating him beyond most magicians in understanding of magic? Also I'd say that his strongest point is that he is THE avatar of the god of magic.

I think pug stopped growing in power after serpentwar. His best Attribute would be patience, best skills/knowledge in my opinion would be rifts and wards.
