Hi Everyone
Long time lurker finally decided to post a request...

I am looking the name of book and author name ...

The story premis is that all the cities and people of the world are now in huge Towers, there has been forced integration of all races and there is no escape from these huge towers, or so they want you to believe - and it is the story of a disaffected group looking for a way out to the mythical outside

I read it for the first time in the 1980's - sinced lost the book and can't for the life of me remember who the author is or even the name of the book. I imagine it was published in the 70's and the cover was of towers in the sky and the view from outside

Can anyone help with suggestions so I can look on ebay or abebooks - It is not a classic but it is now annoying me that I can't remember more

thanks

"High Rise" by J.G Ballard has similar elements.
I don't think it's the book you're looking for but you may finding it interesting.

I loved it.

Even though the World Inside seems to be what you are looking for, I want to offer a suggestions about another story, with a different slant on cities and towers.

It is Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle's Oath of Fealty. It is quite interesting in it approach to living in a specail society.

^Just finished Oath of Fealty the other day and I liked it pretty well. Niven and Pournelle are similar to Robert Heinlein in their use of political messages and plausible science in their stories and this is no exception.
