Now that the WOT movie rights has been bought by Universal Pictures back in August what actors/actresses do you think should be cast for the first book:rolleyes:

OKay? They had Heath Ledger as Rand, and Tom Welling as Perrin?

Rand is a probably around 6'5" and Perrin may not even reach 6' tall.

Rand towers over Perrin, but this cast would have it totally backward...

Yeah, and Heath has a teeny-tiny impediment to playing the role of Rand, namely his no longer being alive.

God help the director and producer who ever is foolish enough to take this mess on...
and my condolences to the screenwriters. Are they actually thinking 13 movies??? Or another crappy TV series like Legend of the Suck--ah, Seeker. Perhaps the screenplays could reduce the series to where it should have been, like 5 or 6 books.

I do wonder how they are ever going to accomplish so mammoth a task. Even the first three, which fits the adventure movie template the best, are far too large to have a hope of fitting into the adverage attention span of an audience member.

Still, on the subject at hand - Angelina Jolie would make a good Lanfear I think. I haven't read all of the books so couldn't say as to all the characters, but I do think that the casting director would do well to stay away from famous faces for the core characters of Rand, Perrin and Mat (and possibly Egwene also). Or Rand, certainly.

If people see a famous face in the roles, it will make it very difficult for people to believe that they are niave, innocent barely-adults who are caught up in events far beyond them in the beginning.

Also, the choice of who to play Moraine will be a key one, as she is so important to the story of the series. I do agree with that website on a few things, namely donald Sutherland as Thom Merrilin and Steve Bucemi as Padan Fain (if ever there was a creepy actor for a creepy role).

Still, I agree with the Clansman. This will be a nightmare of a series of films to even approach.

This may be a novel idea. If you cut out all the loose ends Jordan seemed to have forgotten about anyway, and the encyclopedia of unnecessary characters, the series would be much shorter.

Really tall, slim red head for Rand.... Conan O'Brien?
lol. I used to think the same thing. Conan would be horrible at it, but it would be funny to see.

I've always like Tom Welling as Perrin Aybara. His personality in Smallville looks like it would go really well with Perrin's personality. He's MASSIVE and he's very gentle and kind-hearted. I think it fits Perrin.

For Mat Cauthon, I think Ryan Reynolds would be GREAT in that part. Mat is the comic relief in the books, and Ryan is hilarious... PLUS, he actually looks the way I think Mat would look.... actually, after just thinking about it and picturing him in Amityville Horror, I think he could be serious enough to play Rand if he needed to.

I don't remember them ever mentioning Perrin's height. I always assumed He, Rand and Mat were all very tall... of course, with Rand being the tallest, but Perrin and Mat not falling far behind. In either case, they made Gandalf look massive next to Elijah Wood in LOTR. I'm sure they can fake the height they need out of whoever they choose.

They need to get a really young cast, so they might live long enough to finish.....

Rand - Lindsey Lohan
Mat - Charles Barkley
Perrin - Clay Aiken
Those Annoying Magic Girls - Girls Aloud

Interesting choices...... think Lindsy could pull off Rand? He was much taller.

In chapter 3 of EotW, when Perrin is first introduced, Robert Jordan describes him being half a head shorter than Rand. So, it's likely that the top of Perrin's head reaches Rand's nose. __(-_-)__ _(-_-)_

Ya but even in the LOR they had to use kids for distant shots....who will they use to stand in for LL in group shots?
