I like: The Song of Ice and Fire Series. The Swor
So, My theory is simple and not very supported by the books.
But, I figured I will post it and maybe some of the super hardcore
theorists will support/destroy it.
that along with posting several links where this has been discussed at length before.

Okay so the Hound is with these monk guys.
Arya is Training to become a faceless men.
Stanis is at the wall.
Tyrian is in hiding.
Dany is Raiding/saving far off cities.

The pace of the books is kinda slow.
Not too Slow. But I have seen where people say that its gonna take
X amount of years or books to finish the series.

my thought is that what if martin is driving all the characters into hiatus
or training or whatever and in a book or two get back to regular pacing.

this would be explained better by example.

arya.

"she had been blind for a year now. learning this and that about mental dominance.. she would have felt excitement at learning to charge her appearance as Jaken(sp?) once did, if she werent no one. if you are no one .. then you cant feel anything. ......"

the update is a year later.. etc.
(think reek chapter--he says 6 months at least)

if he did this with enough characters
then maybe some of the younger character will grow up and have more major roles (in the game)
Sansa could have been trained by Petyr to be ultra manipulative
Sandor will have learned to control his rage.
Arya - will be a faceless man
Jon Snow Will have earned his "Stark" name (Rob's Will and testament ... even if he doesnt take the position)

etc etc etc.

I know its unlikely. and yes. i am new to this forum
(well not reading it)

also it might just be that i want arya to grow up and be able to kill her prayer list.

okay ... now Blast away.
for my last meal.. I'll have a Burrito.

I actually think this was Martin's original plan, to have a gap between two books. I think it was originally slated for after the AFFC/ADWD events. But since that grew longer and got split I'm not sure if that is still his plan. If anyone knows for sure I'll bet Wert does.

More stupid theories.

so what your are saying is.. that my "gap" theory is correct. Though it is apparently not that big of a deal. as I figured it wouldn't be .. one way of the other.

LOOK .. ALL THE GOOD THEORIES ARE TAKEN.
AND ALL THE DUMB ONES TOO.

so heres some even less likely thoughts.

1.a) Tysha is Shae.. it never really says how old Tysha or shae is right?
I know its not likely .. and I don't even believe it either.
But it would be kinda cool if Tysha came back into tyrions life to screw him over because "he" treated her like a whore. and then tyrion finds out that he killed his true love. I always thought it was strange .. how "good" of a whore Shae was. like she really did care about him .. until boom. the betrayal. "he makes me call him 'my giant of lannister' " so pissed. errr..
yeah yeah .. the sailors wife or whatever.. thats not too likely either I thought .. until the "where do whores go" thing..

1.b) a second theory about shae is that Tywin set the whole thing up when it got back to him (spies.. like everyone seems to have) that tyrion was looking for a whore (as he knew he would)

2) Jaqen is the kindly old man. -- i know Jaqen at the citidel.. but maybe theres a way.. like thats why he sent arya to the real world to sell clams and has her come back

3) Varys - not so sure that he is actually a eunich.. Thats all .. its just he is so sneaky and so freakin' good at it... I think the next he pops up. it will be a shock .. kinda like REEK. We will find out that some character is actually Varys' sneaky ass.

bash away.

Well... Tysha was presumably Tyrion's age. Tyrion is around 25 years old when he meets Shae who is about 19... this makes Tyrion about six years older than Shae. If I recall correctly, Tyrion was 14 when he married Tysha. If Shae is Tysha, then she was eight when Tyrion married her... so I don't this is possible.

Was Tysha a spy for Tywin all along? I definitely think so. Check out Everyone needs a conspiracy theory... (my post is the second one) for this and other ideas.

As for Varys... In the thread Vary's - why? [sic] you can find lots of guesses at his motivations. Varys may not be a eunuch... we only have his word for it.

Varys is the real Ned Stark. I've always said so.;)

does anyone have any idea on how old Varys is?

I've got some new theories.. but I want to check the thousands of threads to make sure I'm the first (yeah right) and I need to know how old he is. I'll check back here during my research to see if someone beats me to it.

I read some theory once that was .. varys is a targ. wouldn't that be interesting? if the story he told tyrion is true about being cut. very interesting. Targarian outcast. why?

until later.

is it wrong that I am using this thread for all these theories? or no big deal..? I'm new. (and gaining on 10 posts - which I understand that I can then freely be called an idiot)

The Varys Targ thread was posted by Boaz a few posts up.

It's possibile. It's also possible he's not a eunuch. Many Eunich's shave their heads in ASoIF. Good enough persona as any to hide silvery blond hair behind baldness.

But, alas, no. I don't know how old the man is. There may be some clue in the books to help us guess, though.

Squire, no, I think we have to wait until your eighteenth post to call you an idiot.

Yes, the Varys (Vaerys) Targaryen theory is originally mine... yeah, right. Don't worry about being redundant and don't take it hard when posters show you that your thoughts are not original... this happens to me every time I post an original thought.

I think the more of us postulating theories, the better chance we'll figure some things out.

And by the way, pay close attention to posts by Werthead and Raven because they both have firm grips on ASOIAF subject matter.

Do we know the POV are happening simultaneously? Were we ever told this? or was it just assumed?

If not then Jaqen in citadel and the kindly old man could be the same person at different times?

why the burrito?

Before he was kicked out of the Kingsguard Ser Barristan or just "Ser" as I always called him, used to send me to Flea bottom or there-abouts. To fetch him some burritos. He loved those things. He would usually give me enough coin to get myself one as well. They remind me of the good ole days when Aegon was a little more sane (if one can say such a thing.) of training with the "Ser", and listening to Rhaegar play some somber tunes while we feasted like Robert Baratheon on delicious FleaBottom burritos.

so theres your answer TK. :p

OR you could just say that I love mexican food.
Buts thats not as fun.:D

EDIT.
Wow, just reread this.. I am such a damn Nerd.

Don't have anything real meaningful to add but just wanted to ask why the burrito? I mean the last thing I would want before dying is heartburn or the ***** or both. Why not a parfait. As donkey says, everyone loves a parfait. :D

I don't have much meaningful to add either, but I just want to say, my motto is, when life gets tough, give me a couple of Dos Equis, a chicken burrito and a Marlboro light afterwards, and the sun will be shining a little brighter.
