I just started reading book 2 in the Imri series and started getting book deja vu, as if the author is using scenes from the prior book in the series. Am I imagining this, or did she start using prior text?

No, I don't think so. Don't forget that the Longest Night is a yearly celebration, when everyone is in masks and things can happen and be said/done, that normally couldn't be. I think she just uses this celebration to orient us to the timeline and to add some more plots.
