Just wondering Neal, do you have any say in the RRP of your books?

Reason I'm asking is that I've acquired (via Santa) Prador Moon, my current book had to be put to one side as I made the mistake of reading a few pages and realised I wanted to read this much more that Ship of Magic by Hobb.

Price on the back (from memory) is £5-£6.99? Now its a short book, but priced similary to you other full length novels, but the price is the same...

Also - when you started on this did you envisage writing a short book at the start or does the it end when it ends - so to speak?

That also irritates me. I know writers and publishers earn a living by sales but shouldn't it also be if the book is really short then obviously less costs will be involved in using materials to print the book therefore the price should drop?

I have no say in the RRP of my books. I guess you're talking about the paperback Macmillan Prador Moon at £6.99, well, it is cheaper since the larger paperback Hilldiggers is £7.99. I would guess that the largest cost is not the materials i.e. the cover of Prador Moon is probably no less expensive than that of Hilldiggers, the process of sticking the book together is probably no less expensive too, but it is not something I know a great deal about. This is the deal all writers have with publishers: I write the book and they produce and sell it; I do my job and trust them to do their job.

Yeah I hope you didnt take that as criticism of you, I was just wondering thats all :)
