Events in the next few weeks:

WH Smith Cheltenham: All day Saturday 12th March 2005.
WH Smith Bristol (Cripps Causeway): 10am - 4pm 29th and 30th March 2005.

If anyone lives locally to either of these venues, I would be delighted to see you there. :)

Mark, your marketing notes were extremely helpful, especially the part about book signings. I'm going to be doing a lot of these toward the end of this year when my novel comes out; and had I not read your notes, I definitely would have sat my butt down BEHIND the table, alienating potential customers!

:D :D :D :D

It's not so much that you would alienate them, Circus - just frighten them off. I'm sure you'll agree that this is not the desired effect!

Anyway, I'm glad that you found the notes useful. :)

Oh...I guess I won't wear my propellor hat after all. :D

Oh, for shame CC, for shame. We all want to see you in your propellor hat a book signing:D:D

Well it would certainly grab some attention now that you mention it. Hmmmm......................

Had a great time in both Cheltenham and Bristol. Sold out at Cheltenham - should have taken more books. :( Went better prepared to Bristol and sold over 260 books in two days... yeehaa! Hope to do more signings soon.

Not bad at all. :)

For anyone interested, I'm planning to sign books in Ottakars, Putney on Saturday 23 April. I should be there for the majority of the day. :)

Well, Putney was fun! Great day of signing books. I've not got any more events booked for a while now, as I want to get settled into my new house. The next event in my diary is the Cosford Airshow on 12 June, when I'll be signing books in the Charity Hangar to raise money for Children In Need. Hope to see some of you there. :)

Isn't C-I-N in November time???

Still wanna know when you are headed North!!! And I'll have to see if I can find one of your books, and see how good you are!!! Unless you wanna donate one to the "cause"... Then I can leave it around for other avid readers... ;)

You're right, Master, the main Children in Need event is normally in November, but people raise money all year round for the charity. November is just a focal point for actually handing over the lolly! :)

Last time I signed at Cosford, I was raising money for a specific project. Happily, I raised enough money to completely refurbish a children's orphanage in Kenya. My old Squadron took an aircraft and a team of volunteers out there. They got physically involved in the refurbishment, spending a week out there with the staff and children, painting, decorating and giving the whole place a general makeover. Sadly, I was unable to go along, but it was nice to know that my efforts had made such a difference to those childrens' lives.

I've always been involved in charity work - it's good for the soul. :D

I've got an idea... How about we lock you up somewhere and see if people are willing to donate to have you let out... ;)

Nice to see some people willing to get out there and get their hands dirty doing the work... Good on them!!! :D

LOL! :D You'll have to catch me first! You can be sure that I'll be borrowing some frozen ducks from Ivy to put you off! Anyway, I've been 'locked' in the military for over 20 years now - people do less than that for murder!

Cosford Airshow was a wonderfully successful day. I broke my personal best for the most books sold in a single session - 283! I'm now convinced that I could break 300 one day... maybe when I'm a little better known. :)

Next major event - Worldcon 4-8th August, in Glasgow. I hope to see some of you there.
