Searching For A Book... Don't Know the Name

Many years ago, I read a fantasyish book most probably aimed at children. I remember nothing about this book -book series?- except a character having to eat a green sea apple for some reason, and some other, more vague details. I know this is really not much to go on, but I cannot imagine many books featuring something as original as green sea apples (which I believe were supposed to be small, hard, and sour, though I'm not quite certain). So there it is: Does anyone know what book(s) I'm talking about?

Hi there!

Could it perhaps be 'Lulu's Library' by Louisa M Alcott - seems to match the children's fantasy description too?

There's a digital version available at - archive.org/stream/luluslibrary00alco (sorry, can't post a direct link to it!) - and there's a mention of green sea-apples on page 182 about 2/3 of the way down the page.

Hope that helps a little!

Don't think it's this one. The book I'm looking for, I believe the green sea apples had to be eaten for a specific purpose, as in a necessary step in the plot advancement. Thank you for taking the time to check, though. I've been searching for this book for years, and the prospect of finding it.... it would be very, very, nice.

I am doubtful as to whether thread "bumping" counts as spam or not in relation to the forum rules, so I'll err not on the side of caution, but the, er, other side. Bump.

Also, I believe there was a man who was searching for, or had to eat, the green sea apple. I believe this might have been a series, a trilogy (?), and near the end of a book a tunnel had to be traversed - there might have been some sort of sage, or hero, or mysterious person in this tunnel.

I would really like to find this book! Is there no person who recognises any of this?
