Some guy named Childeritch ...

This has been bugging me since yesterday. The name Childeritch popped into my head; I know it's a character from a book I've read recently, or maybe even just read an excerpt from or skimmed in a bookshop, but I can't find him either in my memory or by googling. It might be from a book I've forgotten reading. Any ideas?

Bingo!! It's been years since I read it, but I remember now I looked at a couple of pages a month or so back. I must have heard the name Childeritch somewhere else and got them confused.
