So, what does the future have in store for Sansa?

I've been pretty sympathetic to her, but I keep wondering what George R R Martin will hold in store for her.

So far, I see a couple of different paths, depending upon whether she takes a chance on controlling her life, or whether she's going to end up as "the next Cersei". The fact that her Direwolf was killed suggests that the former may be difficult - but is the latter even possible?

How about this - a Sansa vs Arya face-off at some point? Could Arya ever be sent to kill Sansa if Sansa turned vicious in power?

OR, is the lost of the direwolf merely the loss of connection with Winterfell, and that she will found a new nuclear group in Kings Landing (or even Casterly Rock)?

Thoughts invited. :)
 
I hope gurm goes down the angry and bitter road with Sansa. It would make for a very interesting character, who, so far, to be fair, has been pretty dull;)
 
I see Sansa's story, at the present, simply to give the reader another point of view from the Iron Throne. I don't find her chapters dull I find a lot of information in her chapters, through the eyes of an innocent young lady. A point of view I find interesting because in her chapters are many clues to the overall story. Each new chapter for Sansa seems to be pulling the "wool" from her eyes and to harden her spirit so that she can become a worthy heir to Winterfell.

I would like to say more but in being fair to any who have not read A Storm of Swords I will not.

Hmm, fascinating... I do see her dyinng sometime in the future, but not the next book.
 
I would think her fate is, at least for now, tied to Littlefinger. As long as he remains useful to the crown, or stays holed up in Casterly Rock, I think she is safe. However, if she does not return Littlefinger's romantic advances, I think she is a goner. Littlefinger has already shown his propensity for killing/betraying Starks and those associated with them.
 
I highly doubt Sansa will become an evil woman. I simply don't see the possibility for it in her character. Sure, she's had a cold dose of reality delivered to her, and there will be more to come. But I think that she will be resilient when it comes to her morals and values. I think that, in the end, she will outwit Littlefinger instead of allowing him to corrupt her. There is too much good inherent in her character.

She's a dimwit and a shame to women everywhere, but I've got to give her credit for making it this far. I know I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I had seen half of what she has seen.:eek:
 
She is not a woman. She is a child. I agree that she was pretty annoying before Ned's death. But she was brought up in a very stupid way. Noone had ever tried to explain her to be careful and not to trust people. When she lied about Joffrey she clearly didn't understand the seriousness of the situation. And Ned didn't explain it to her. It's true she should've learned from that, but she was only eleven. And even later Ned never tried to explain her to be wary with the Lannisters.
Later she started learning. I think she did quite well for her age and for her situation.
She is not a fighter like Arya, but even Arya was often captured and made to keep silent and obey. Sansa couldn't do anything else. Joffrey made her beaten bloody for the slightest offense and Cersei and Lysa weren't any better.
As for her future I think she is going to be a good player of the game of thrones and will finally outwit LF. Especially when she learns his part in Ned's death. And I don't see her turning evil.
"When winter comes the lone wolf dies but the pack survives" Robb was the lone wolf and he died because although he was good on the battlefield, he wasn't good enough in politics and Melissandre used magic against him. The others are a pack with members of different abilities. They are in training for the big battle now, where they will have different roles to play. Jon a battle commander, Arya a different kind of warrior, Sansa a polititian and Bran a wizard. Rickon is the unknown factor.

My Theory on Sansa is a little out there, but anything is possible with GRRM at the helm. By now she has realized that she is alone in the world and must fend for herself. This, along with the destruction of her romantic views of the world, will lead her to seduce Littlefinger and through him gain power in the Vale, similar to how Dany made Kal Drogo fall in love with her. I also foresee her and Arya becoming mortal enemies and it may be up to their mother to bring them together.

Just the shock of seeing her present state may make them forget about tearing each other to pieces. To those who think Sansa won't survive the next book, you may be right, but when GRRM decides to do away with main characters, they always rise in power before they meet their end.
 
I'm starting to think that no matter how much we speculate on what will happen with Arya and Sansa, old Georgie will pull a fast one on all of us. Too much can happen in the next book or two...:D
 
Wow, seems like there is alot of negativity towards Sansa.

To a certain extent I also feel a hostility towards her for going to Cersei with Ned's plan, but when viewed from the mind of someone so young and naive I have to forgive the action.

As protagonists the Starks are "good" insofar as they abide by their own rigid code of honor and wish to do no one harm. In this they are typical of most fantasy genre characters.

This however leads to a certain naivete as to the workings of the world at large. Few at King's Landing are going to be as honest or as caring as they are, as most are not lords of their own northern kingdom, they are petty manipulators looking to further their own interests in any way possible. Being so rigid and honest, the Stark's natures can be used against them.
I think this is embodied in Sansa the most, who viewed the world as soft and colorful; full of shining knights and romance tales. Her own wolf, very gentle and loving, was put down hard.
Truly signifying Sansa must leave her soft world and idealistic notions behind her if she is to survive.
(to spell it out Im saying the death of her wolf is the death of Sansa's innocence...perhaps even the death of all of the Stark's innocence and isolationism)

I see her becoming knowledgeable in the way of thrones and court after being tutored by Petyr. She will return to King's landing and begin to maniupulate the lords and ladies therein to her own benefit. She is going to have to try and reconcile the moral code that Ned tried to live up to with what she must do to keep herself, her family and her kingdom alive.
She could truly become one of the most important characters when it comes to re-establishing the Stark rule in the north.

Just some thoughts. I hope they make sense!

I would definitely like to see Sansa redeem herself by becoming a major player. I also think that she and Dany may get along well- after all, Joffrey and Viserys were very similar, and both women (girls, to some people, although how you can remain a child in such circumstances is beyond me) were put through hell.

I kind of disagree with that Arya. Joffrey and Viserys were both bullies, but that's where the similarities end. Viserys had a real purpose in life and he was a relatively smart guy. Joffrey was a dumb, inbred monster who lived to be horrible.
 
Hmmm....Viserys was inbred too and not very bright (making demands of Khal Drogo?).
And he tortured Dany, so he was kind of horrible too.

Now that I think about it...the two were very much alike.
