Bolt out of the Blue!

After nearly 9 years of flogging my self published Darkweaver books up and down the UK, it seems someone has finally taken enough notice of me to take that first series seriously!

I've just been offered a considerable sum of money for the German Translation rights for all four books by Random House (Germany) which you can be sure I will be accepting! It's strange, because given all the great feedback I've had on Darkweaver from readers in the UK I was always confident about selling them here, but I suddenly feel as if my belief in those stories has finally been vindicated. It's a great feeling. :D

For anyone else who has self published something they really believe has a market, this must surely shine a ray of hope on that stance.

Congratulations, Mark.

With all the hard work you've put in over so many years, you deserve all the success you get.

(But you might want to take a moment to think how things might have turned out if you had written the books in German in the first place. ;):))

Congratulations!

It must take so much faith in your writing to self-publish, and to keep at it for so long. A great lesson for never giving up on something you believe in. As you say - vindicated!

Many congratulations Mark - and yes it does give us self-publishers some hope. A quarter way through book 4 of my series, your ray of hope or bolt of blue comes and spurs me on. Thanks Mark and well done.

Congrats, Mark.

They're your best books. There's something 'organic' about them, and I'm not sure you can even describe books as being organic.

Well done, it's great to hear your books spreading to other places in the world ^^

Thanks, everyone. My agent has been quietly working away on my behalf trying to sell my Darkweaver books overseas for several years, but now that the Imperial books are finally launching in some of the territories I've gained with Simon & Schuster, it seems the publishers in these places are beginning to look at my backlist as well. Let's hope this is a sign of things to come. :)

Great news! If I spoke German, I would buy them, but I don't. I'm sure some people over there will find them as awesome and literary provoking (if that makes sense) as I did (and still do, after the 4th (i think) reading of the series).
