My first post here, hope to post more :).

My Dad gave me Gridlinked last Christmas, I'm a big sci-fi fan and I quickly devoured it. Let me just start off by saying, I love it! Excellent writing style, love the gritty, dark essence. Anyways, just wanted to declare myself an official Asher fan by and large... I ordered Line of Polity, Brass Man, and Polity Agent off amazon (couldn't find them at any shops in the US...) and Line of Polity just arrived two days ago and I'm about 150 pages into. So far it is excellent, can't wait to read the whole series! I've looked online at Ashers other books and I'm planing on reading them all!

P.S. Can't seem to find a cheap Line War order online... Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I agree he is very good at what he does. I like the whole sci-fi action packed style a lot. His characters are quite real and gritty. Gridlinked was excellent and a fresh new approach to the genre I think. If Peter F Hamilton wrote about 300 pages less on each book then a lot more people would read him.

I didn't know if it was ok to make a new thread or where to post this but could we get a thread dedicated to fan art work? A place where people could post pictures of what they think the entities in your universes look like?

It would be drawings, computer illustrations-manipulations... It could be fun.

I don't know much about copy right stuff so I didn't want to make a "dead-thread" if we couldn't.

To Inkcoder and Biodriod I didn't mean to hijack this and I love his writing too.

I just read your Blog post "Calling all Artists" very cool.
I would have edited my above post but no edit button.

Opened up my old laptop, and noticed that this was one of the bookmarks. I had forgotten about this website, and thought I would give an update towards my Asher readings.

Finished off the Cormac series quickly, Brass Man stands out to me as my favorite of the five books (I love Crane). I had to re-read Gridlinked before I started Line War, to familiarize myself with some of the early happenings. Especially because of all the new information learned of Dragon and Horace Blegg. The series ended superbly, couldn't have asked for more.

Next, I read a few of the stand alone's: First, Shadow of the Scorpion, Cormac is such a deep character and I loved his prequel. The Engineer Reconditioned, which was packed full of interesting Polity set stories. Loved it, and kept me wanting more. Hilldiggers and Prador Moon, I can't get enough of these Polity set novels Asher, I really can't.

After this I read The Skinner, and I was blown away. I didn't think Asher would be able to out due his Cormac series, boy was I wrong. I fell in love with Spatterjay, and all the characters. I blazed through VSK and Orbus. Both amazing, and just keep me wanting more.

More recently, I've read The Gabble and Cowl. Cowl was an unusual Asher novel, but I enjoyed it.

I ordered Runciple Tales, which was ******* $70 off amazon, I hope it's worth it. I have Africa Zero lying around, and is on my list to read after I finish off Red Seas under Read Skies (book two of a highly recommended Stephen Lynch series). I have The Technician on preorder with amazon, looks awesome.

For the future, I hope to read more of Ashers short stories (The Parasite, Mason's Rats, Sucker). Then possibly some of his work with combine authors. I love his style, and I can't wait for more.

Well Asher, I've read everything...
I really try to spread the word about you, I feel like you are still largely unknown to many die hard SF readers. It's very odd, because you definitely deserve to be among the best. Too many old school Heinlein guys can't wrap there head around hard SF I guess.

Take you time, NO WRITE FASTER, no really take your time, WRITE GOD DAMN FASTER, no seriously don't rush.
