i read a book a friend gave to me last year about a man who was killed as a young boy by a man he knew who also killed his father. he was a half-breed of elf. he is between worlds, he can see ghosts. he seeks revenge on the people that killed him. he rescues a woman and falls in love with her, and in the end he dies. he also wers a ring that is a key part in the book

if you know the title/author of this book, it would be greatly apreciated to know

i haven't found a book like piers' that sounds similar to it.
the man could also sing beautifully. and if i remember right, he has a ring... which is worth something.
