I've seen other people ask questions like this in this forum so I thought I'd give it shot. When I was a young teen (1996 or before), I read the first book in a series. I remember thinking it was awesome but never being able to find the second book. I knew it was a series because it said #1 next to the name of that particular book. The title on the cover was "The Protectors". That was either the title of the book or the title of the series. (I no longer have the book)
It was about a group of kids that was recruited by the government to help with security somehow. All of the kids had special abilities. The only reason I think it might be considered fantasy is that one of the kids was telepathic. Another was a natural leader. One was a great mechanic/technician. There was also a teen with a photographic memory. I can remember some scenes in the first book. They stayed in a hotel. They took tests in their schools and their scores were sent to the government. They might have been helping out at a gymnastic tournament. The leader was the main character. I've googled and tried looking for it at libraries and B&N and Amazon. Anyone have any idea where this series is?
