Anyone read it? The same author has done "Iron Dragon's Daughter" set in the same world.

I highly recommend both and would love to discuss with any who have already partaken.

Haven't read The Dragons of Babel. Is it a sequel to The Iron Dragon's Daughter? I suppose I could Google it myself to see. I enjoyed TIDD, but also found it disturbing on some levels. Swanwick can be pretty cynical and without the benefit of much humor to even things out.

Just checked up on the story line of TDOB. It sounds very similar to a short story of his from a few years ago (Can't remember the title). If it constitutes an expansion of that tale, it would be very much worthwhile.

Next up for me from him is Stations of the Tide. I'm told it's one of his best.

OK, another one of my favorite authors. Babel is definitely a sequel to Iron Dragon's Daughter, which I agree is disturbing or at least challenging in certainly aspects. He's described as having a Freudian bent in his literature, those who have read him will understand what I mean...;)

I recently picked up a beautiful HB edn put out by Subterranean Press The Best Of Michael Swanwick, which collects 30 years of Swanwick's short fiction. I haven't had a chance to get my hooks properly into this yet but from what I've looked at so far, an excellent collection.

Gene Wolfe has a high reputation of Swanwick, which doesn't surprise me hearing praise for this author coming from the highest corners.

Recommended if you like to read something a little challenging.

Cheers....:)
