On April 6th at 10 PM CST is the start of the signing. Or they do stuff till midnight when they release the book and get it signed or whatever, that is. But it's in Oak Brook, Illinois and I plan on going and buying the book and having Jim Butcher sign it. Anyone else getting the book signed when he comes near you (don't know his signing schedule)?

I've been waiting for the book though. I really like the Dresden Files.

Unfortunately, he's not coming anywhere near me w/ the release of this book, but that's okay, I'll just find him later... I always do! *g*

But - go and have fun! Jim is a fun guy to talk to and very personable and down-to-earth!

I don't know, I've never really been one to get books signed. I don't think I've ever actually even met an author... least not that I am aware of. I do collect books, (currently holding steady at a little over 1200 =) but I've never been one to collect signed books. Not sure why... Although, I think it would be great fun to meet him!

Yeah, I wouldn't normally get books signed either. But since he's going to be so close to where I live I figured I might as well go and do it. Sounds like it will be fun from what I just read on his official website. I didn't know there would be people dressing up as characters. Cosplay isn't exactly my thing, but I have no problem watching other people look silly.

I just got back at 2AM. My brother and I got there just before 10:30PM since that was when he got off work. Which is of course pretty late even if things didn't start till at that time. We both got yellow wristbands, which there was like six different colors or so. It started off with Q & A. Jim Butcher is pretty funny. He had us all laughing quite a few times.

Then was everyone who was dressed up to come to the front. They all got to be at the front of the line. Then was the signing of older books that people wanted to get signed. Then at midnight they started calling the color of your wristband. My brother and I were called second to last. They passed out the books while we waited 30 - 45mins to reach Jim Butcher.

I had him just write my name. I figured I'd just go for simple and to the point. I couldn't really think of anything else. I took a picture of Jim Butcher holding up my brothers copy with my brother. All I said to him was "thanks" after he signed my copy. I'm not much of a talker lol.

In the end we stood for a total of three hours. It was all a pretty good time. I can at least say I met Jim Butcher and got a book signed by him. Which I haven't got any signed books by anyone else.

It was also kind of funny watching all these people with dark circles under their eyes. I didn't have a problem because I go to bed at 4AM. So not getting home till 2AM didn't bother me at all.

I didn't get to hear all of what Jim Butcher said for the Q & A because of the people talking to the Borders staff right behind me. I was kind of hoping some fanatic would turn around and charge the people talking and beat them unconcious. Oh well. I only saw him half the time for that part also since people kept moving back and forth in my way. But it was still fine.

Towards the end we did get to sit in the really bad folding chairs. Which was worse than standing. I kept wishing I had gone to the Science Fiction & Fantasy aisle and find the David Gemmell book I was currently reading at home. But I didn't really care enough to go get it.
