What should i buy?

I like smallville but don't hate me for it, i used to collect comic books for reading a few years back but i stopped. I was recently given the Graphic Novel, Superman : Birthright. Which i thought was great and i wanted to know if anyone had info. on the best Superman Graphic novels to buy.
Yeh im only interested in Superman Graphic Novels at this point.

No fan of superman but I've read couple of TPBs. You'll probably have read these:

I really enjoyed SUPERMAN VERSUS ALIENS and SUPERMAN VERSUS PREDATOR. Both were originally a mini-series but I'm fairly certatin they were collected in trade paperback.

Coming from a non Superman fan and a Big Grant Morrison fan I would say All Star Superman.

That's easy...get Red Son by Mark Millar and All Star Superman by Morrison and Quitely....both are superior Superman reads.

Of those not already mentioned you should try.

Superman- Secret Identity was quite good. Superman: Secret Identity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

However I find Superman to be pretty bland as a hero. He's far too powerful and squeeky clean.

Thanks everyone for commenting. Yeh superman isn't for everyone and i agree in some comics/graphic novels the authors did over power him but since the early 90's they reigned his powers in a little more with greater effect. All comments were really helpful and you have all helped restart my superman collection thanks guys

If you pick up the Alan Moore DC Comics Stories collection you will find some killer Superman stories there including What Happened to The Man of Tomorrow? and For The Man Who Has Everything.
