Okay,

This book has to be at least 20 years old. Its about a group of space "marines" or the likes. They wear very advanced armor that become sentient. The armor actually kills the wearer. One of the soldiers survives and learned how to control his armor, but had to be careful not to let his guard down or it would consume him. Anyone who actually has a name for this has got to be a Book God.

Next thing, what is up with the random question??
 
The SandWars series by Charles Ingrid. Which include the titles: Lasertown Blues, Celestial Hitlist, and a couple of others.
The armor becomes sentient because it is infected by an alien. The main character befriends the creature in his armor and develops a symbiotic relationship.
