Books similar to your favourite films

Hi, newbie member here...

I was wondering how many of you seek out books with similar themes to your favourite movies?

For example, I love the films Aliens and The Thing, and I've been looking for books of a similar nature, e.g. journey into space or some other remote location, and encounter something monsterous. This was actually quite a difficult task , and really only had a recommendation of Voyage of the Space Beagle by A.E. Van Vogt.

Or the Indiana Jones films, which have sparked my interest in reading other stories of an action/adventure theme, leading to some ancient mystery or discovery of a lost civilisation etc... Slightly easier, I've picked up some books by James Rollins which seem to fit the bill perfectly.

What are your favourite films, and what books have you read that most relate to that film?

My all time favourite movie is The Crow, but I find it hard to find books that relate much to it. Well, there is the book that Poopy Z. Brite wrote, but it wasn't memorable.
