That's what I ask myself all the time. Useful and inoffensive as it is, why should so many people be ready to do away with it?

I'm glad they are very clear on the semi-colon rules. People tend to get that one wrong almost as much as a comma - or instead of a comma.

It's no good. Bookstop, I don't know you well enough to decide if you're being genuine or sarky - and it's driving me crazy! Three posts extolling the virtues of commas and semi-colons - and practically every other punctuation mark makes its appearance but not those two...
