Tawny Man on the way.. Will I kick myself?

I just ordered the Tawny Man trilogy, without realizing that the Liveship Traders was in any way connected. Am I about to kick myself for not getting it first? I've read and loved the Farseer, and ordered Tawny Man for more of Fitz and the Fool (btw one of the most interesting characters I've ever seen). I saw on another thread where someone mentioned that Liveship completed the picture of the story. My question is would reading Tawny Man spoil Liveship? Or, is Liveship integral to provide a link between the other two? I've used up my book allowance for a while, and libraries around here don't have squat for current fantasy series. So do I wait or go ahead and read what I got?

I've heard that while Liveship has some contact with Tawny Man, it is not completely necessary to read Liveship first. In truth, the Six Duchies is only mentioned a handful of times throughout Liveship and remains a fairly distant part of the world. But as I haven't read Tawny Man either, I can't say how much you may miss.

Thanks, hopefully it won't be too much. I take it you liked Liveship since you read it enough to say the Six Duchies was only mentioned a handful of times.

Personally I would recomend reading Live ship traders first if you can, I read The Tawny Man, then realized that Live ship Traders was linked and went back to read them before the final 2 books. i dont think youll have any trouble following the plot lines or anything if you dont but without giving to much away I think theres some wider issues raised in the live ship traders that do follow through to the next three books. Its mainly an issue as the Farseer series continues so maybe read Tawny Man then Live ship like i did (though it was ALOT easier for me as the Tawny Man had just been released so Live ship was perfect while I waited for the next one). But thats just my 2 cents.

I only read the first book of the Liveship series then went onto Tawny Man. Personally I didnt feel any connection at all and still very much enjoyed Tawn Man :D

The Liveship seria gives us more infos about the dragons, where they come from, the cycle of life, etc. And another side of the Fool, as Amber. Very interesting character indeed. :)

Bah, what a spoiler! Haha, but that's ok. And yes, I have really enjoyed Liveship Traders and definitely recommend you read the series at some point.

LOL I read the series. I didn't say anything about Vivacia and Althea's fight to get the boat for herself or about Malta and her stupid adventures. Do you really want to talk about the Vestrit family ? I don't. I don't like spoilers.:p

Nah, it's interesting to link them up, but I read the books in a tangle myself, without brain fusion ;)

So I just finished Liveship this past weekend and am starting on Tawny Man .... it's good to read about Fitz again.

I'm working on the last of the Tawny Man, and just picked up Liveship Traders. Guess what I'm reading next? Went to B&N today and wife got it for me as an early B-day present, since I told her it would be cheaper to get that than the other ideas I had for what I wanted. (New 3/4 ton 4x4 pickup or shotgun.)

She fell for it. http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZCxdm409YYUS

The Tawny Man is very good so far, but I won't know if I missed out on not reading Liveship first til I finish them both.

Well I read the Liveship trilogy first, before I even knew about the other trilogies. It worked out fine for me. Very interesting revelation when i found out about Amber and the Fool... I will say no more...!

The way I look at reading books out of order is I can always read them again in the proper order at some point. So if I have a book and I want to read it I don't really hesitate to much cause I have to have something to read at all times!

bit of a confession. I started reading liveship traders and lost interest before the end of the first book (mostly cos i didnt like where the story was headin i think). But when the fool mentioned his past in the Tawney man series I quickly flipped through the entire liveship traders set, reading only the scenes with Amber so I could get a further Fool fix. LOL *shrug* worked for me :>
