there are two books i read a while back that i no longer have and am not sure if i have the titles right b/c i can't find them online anywhere.
one i am pretty sure was called "queen of demons" except that its not the "david drake" one i keep finding, at least i am pretty sure. the description sounds nothing like the one i read.
the one i read was like a collection of stories that all tied in together. on of the first ones involved this god of the underworld who made a deal with this woman if he let her husband live that when she died she would live with him for 100l years in the underworld and she died right after and when she went to the underworld her skin turned blue. i remember b/c it inspired me in art class to color this girl i had drawn for an art project blue. there were other stories, one about a man deflowering 13 virgins and a means of getting to some type of treasure or conquering something can't quite remember. but the virgins were chosen at set times and one of them was really beautiful and didn't want to go but had no choice. the book had no cover when i got it, it was black, hard back, and i can't remember the authors name. and the title i think was in a metallic blue color
The second book i think was called "gift from the gods" or gift of the gods" not totally sure but i can't find it anywhere it was hard back and had a picture of a guy on front and there was like 3 or four moons in the background b/c where he lives had like 100 moons or something ridiculous amount of moons. and he ended up saving the kingdom even though he was only a black smiths son and killing a bunch of zombie like creatures and stopping some kind of invasion b/c he had ridiculous strength and endurance and near the end of the book spend hour and hours hacking at the arm from the back and they didn't attack him b/c they didn't think he could be a threat but he was. basically he started out an ordinary guy and ended up saving the kingdom or something like that. it was really good. a lot better than i am describing. i think he even had some kind of special birth mark when he was born so the whole town knew about it when he was growing up b/c a priestess came and saw him.
