'Tal' By Paul Fenimore Cooper

Hi to everyone BTW, I've only just found this website. Anyway. Back to the book...

I have recently re-discovered this book whilst searching for books to read my little boy. 'Tal' is a fabulous tale for children and an ideal way to get your kids interested in Fantasy. It's along the lines of 'The Incredible Story' but I think the characters are better and 'Tal' generally out-strips 'TIS' for general weirdness...

I'm trying to start a revolution on behalf of lesser known books and novelists and although this book is not currently in print you can get it from Amazon. p.s. Yes... The review is mine...

Unfortunately my boy is too young for this at the moment, but I can't wait to read it to him. Maybe I'll just pick it up for a quick revision...

Another fab Sci-Fi book in the same vein is 'Interstellar Pig.'

I would welcome posts from others who have read these books and other suggestions for stories to start a 2 year old on that aren't about sheep / pigs/ other farm yard animals!

I'm not sure about a child that young but the woman who runs this site http://www.bookbrowse.com/index.cfm?page=browse&browseBy=guidescategoryalmost always includes a few children's titles as her children are avid readers as well. She does a fantastic job of describing the books and their effects and does it in a casual and fun style. If she doesn't have any recommendations for children of 2 years, she probably will have something for you at least.
